Why Fall Works for a Bathroom Remodel
A bathroom is one of the smallest rooms in the house and one of the busiest, so a remodel that takes it out of service is easier to plan when you are not also juggling summer travel or a packed holiday calendar. Early October sits in a useful window for homeowners in Montclair and across the Inland Empire: the summer rush has settled, and the holidays, when guests are staying over and the bathroom gets the most use, are still a few weeks out. Starting now gives a project room to be planned properly and finished before that point.
Working Back From the Holidays
The simplest way to plan a fall bathroom remodel is to start with the date you would like the room ready and work backward. A refresh and a full gut are very different jobs, and the scope decides how much calendar time to leave. Bathroom remodeling for us covers everything from a vanity and fixture refresh to a full gut, a new layout, plumbing moved, tile, glass showers and fixtures set. Talking through which of those you have in mind is the first step in picking a realistic start date.
A Refresh
If the layout works and you want a new vanity, fixtures, mirrors and lighting, the project is mostly about choosing finishes and getting them installed. It is the kind of update that is easiest to fit in before the end of the year.
A Full Gut and Rebuild
A full gut means the room is taken back to the framing and rebuilt: new layout, plumbing moved where it needs to go, tile and surrounds, a walk-in or frameless glass shower, and fixtures and hardware set at the end. There are more steps in a row, so it helps to begin earlier in the season.
What Is Involved Behind the Walls
Many bathroom wishes involve more than surfaces. Swapping a tub for a walk-in shower, shifting a vanity, or opening up the room all mean changing what sits behind the walls. Because the same crew that handles our foundation and framing work also remodels the bathroom, structural changes like moving a wall or rerouting plumbing stay in house instead of being handed to a separate company partway through. Structural work moves ahead once the plan and any required permits are in place, the same as our other projects.
If you are also weighing changes to the kitchen, our post on moving walls and plumbing in a kitchen remodel explains how the same approach works there.
Choosing Finishes Early
The materials we work with on bathrooms include marble and stone counters for vanities, tile and surrounds for showers and floors, glass and frameless shower enclosures including walk-in designs, and fixtures and hardware such as faucets, mirrors and lighting. Settling on these early keeps the schedule moving, since the layout, the tile and the shower glass all depend on each other. You can see finished bathrooms, including freestanding tubs, walk-in glass showers and double vanities, in our project gallery and on our bathroom remodeling page.
Questions Worth Thinking Through First
- Is this a refresh of the vanity and fixtures, or a full gut with a new layout?
- Would you like a walk-in shower, a freestanding tub, or both?
- Do any walls or plumbing lines need to move to get the layout you want?
- When would you like the room finished, and is there an event or visit driving that date?
You do not need final answers before you call. These are the questions we talk through when we go over the scope, the plan and rough timing.
Why Work With One Crew
A bathroom remodel touches framing, plumbing, tile, glass and fixtures in a set order. With one crew handling the structure and the finishes, the people setting the tile know how the wall behind it was built, and nothing waits on a handoff between companies. Kaan Constructions holds California Contractor License #1124362 and is insured and bonded, and we have more than 20 years of experience in construction.
Where We Work
We are based in Montclair and take on bathroom remodels across our full service area, including Ontario, Upland, Pomona, Riverside, Claremont, Irvine, Los Angeles, Eastvale and Corona.
